The Muril variety is used as a standard reference in DUS testing (distinctness, uniformity, and stability). A distinctive morphological feature of the plant is its very large-sized fruit.
The plant possesses genetic resistance to a number of pathogens, designated as VF2N. This complex includes resistance to Verticillium wilt (Verticillium dahliae), Fusarium wilt races 0 and 1 (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici), and root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.).
The variety is professional breeding material and is not intended for mass commercial cultivation.
