PERA GIRONA is a traditional form of tomato grown in the northeastern part of Spain. This variety served as genetic material for a breeding program that resulted in the development of the more stable 'Montgrí' cultivar, which inherited the morphology of PERA GIRONA.

The fruits have a pear shape, which distinguishes them from flattened Montserrat-type tomatoes. The skin is colorless, which often gives the fruits a pinkish hue. Characteristic features include pronounced ribbing and the presence of hollows in the seed cavities.

Like many local varieties, this type of tomato is prone to blossom-end rot. In the Catalan gastronomic tradition, the fruits are used primarily for preparing salads, sauces, and for stuffing.
