The hybrid Poncho F1 (PL 6215 F1) is an early or mid-season determinate plant with vigorous foliage. The fruits are plum-shaped, red, weighing 90–100 g, and are characterized by their firmness and the absence of an internal core. The crop is resistant to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, is adapted to temperature fluctuations, and is intended for open field and plastic greenhouse cultivation.
The variety Poncho Negro is an endemic landrace from the Lluta Valley in Chile. It possesses unique tolerance to high levels of soil salinity and boron excess.
