The traditional variety «Черный принц» is an indeterminate plant reaching a height of 1.5–2 meters. The ripening period is 110–125 days from emergence. The fruits have an oblate shape and a characteristic maroon-brown color, their weight varies from 120 to 400 g. The primary use is fresh consumption.

In modern international breeding, the name «Prince Noir» may belong to other genetic forms. Specifically, there are specialty varieties characterized by a high anthocyanin content, which gives the fruits a blue-violet hue. Due to the differences between the Russian variety and foreign commercial hybrids, it is recommended to rely on the description provided by the specific producer.
