The variety is an heirloom English open-pollinated variety bred in the 19th century. The plant is of the indeterminate growth type, reaches a height of 1.5–1.8 m, and requires staking. The fruit ripening period is 65–75 days. The variety is suitable for cultivation in open field, greenhouses, and containers.

The fruits are golden-yellow in color, round in shape, with thin skin, a sweet taste, and a slight acidity. There are discrepancies in sources regarding fruit weight: from small cherry-type fruits weighing 25–30 g to medium-sized fruits weighing 55–85 g. The variety tolerates cool weather well; however, the fruits are prone to cracking in case of excess moisture or overripeness.
