The Astro F1 hybrid is used exclusively as a rootstock for grafting cultivated eggplant varieties. The use of this hybrid makes it possible to increase plant resistance to abiotic stresses, as well as to soil-borne pathogens, in particular to wilt.
The use of this rootstock contributes to an increase in vigor, productivity, and the duration of the fruiting period of grafted cultivars. Since the variety is intended for use as a rootstock, fruit characteristics or maturity group do not apply to it.
