Aswad is an open-pollinated variety. The fruit ripening period ranges from 80 to 100 days. Plants are characterized by high productivity and heat tolerance, requiring a long period of high temperatures.
The fruits have a squat teardrop shape, sometimes with slight ribbing. The skin is glossy, dark purple or almost black in color. The fruit weight varies on average from 1.3 to 2 kg, exceeding 3 kg under favorable conditions.
The fruit flesh is dense, tender, and sweet, which makes the variety suitable for baking and grilling. The crop is intended for cultivation in the open field or greenhouses in regions with a suitable climate.
