The name Hoggar refers to local sorghum forms that are cultivated as a food crop and livestock feed. In scientific studies, the genotype is characterized by high yield and low sensitivity to drought stress.
There is a possibility of confusion, as the name Hoggar is also applied in scientific literature to pearl millet, which grows in the same geographical region.
