Variety 12Gs9012 (also known as Chromatin 12GS9012) is used in research programs. The main recorded feature of this genotype is its resistance to sugarcane aphid (Melanaphis sacchari).

In the course of antibiosis studies, the plant demonstrated the ability to limit the development of this pest, which was expressed in low chlorophyll loss indicators. Detailed data on productivity, plant morphology, or its purpose are not presented in available publications.
