The variety Vidan 697 is a hybrid derived from a cross between Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench and Sorghum sudanense (Piper) Stapf. Detailed agronomic characteristics of the variety, such as maturity group, plant height, or disease resistance, are not available in open sources.
In UPOV and CPVO expert documentation, the variety is used as a reference standard for the evaluation of morphological characteristics. It is characterized by a yellowish-white color of the leaf midrib and very long primary branches of the panicle.
