The plant has sword-shaped leaves and sturdy stems. The flowers reach a diameter of 5 cm; the petals are red with a characteristic contrasting black-yellow spot in the center.
Flowering occurs in May–June. The variety requires sunny, wind-protected areas with well-drained soil. In open ground without cover, it can be grown in hardiness zones 9–10.
