Alameda spinach is a smooth-leaved hybrid developed for «baby leaf» production. The plant is distinguished by an intensive growth rate and forms uniform, deep dark green leaves suitable for commercial packaging and processing.
The variety possesses genetically determined high resistance to spinach downy mildew (Peronospora farinosa f.sp. spinaciae), including races Pfs 1–15.
