In a number of agronomic reports dedicated to the research and evaluation of spinach varieties for cultivation in tunnels, the Escalde variety is characterized as the "semi-savoy" type.

The name Escalde is also encountered in culinary contexts as a designation for the process of blanching spinach and as a name for a carrot variety, which creates confusion when searching for information.
