The Skarne variety (selection number PV-1656) belongs to the mid-early maturity group. The plant forms semi-savoy type leaves, which have moderate surface relief, a rounded shape, and good texture.

This hybrid possesses high resistance to spinach downy mildew (Peronospora effusa) races 1–19. It is intended for cultivation in the baby leaf segment for fresh market use and is recommended for autumn-winter sowing.
