The plant is a dense shrub 0.5–0.7 meters high and 0.6–0.8 meters wide. The leaves are light green, changing color in autumn to shades of burgundy, red, and purple.
Flowering occurs in May–June with pink corymbs; repeat flowering is possible in late summer or autumn provided that faded inflorescences are pruned. The variety is summer-flowering, forming flowers on current-year shoots.
The shrub is frost-resistant, withstands temperatures down to -30°C, and is undemanding regarding growing conditions. It prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations and well-drained soils; it tolerates shaping pruning.
