The variety Krajový is a low aromatic subshrub with a compact, morphologically and phenologically uniform habit. It served as base material for the breeding of a number of other thyme varieties.
The plant belongs to the thymol chemotype. The essential oil composition includes thymol (39.1–69.6 %), o-cymene (6.3–24.9 %), and γ-terpinene (2.75–13.8 %). The essential oil content is at least 1.2 %, and the sum of thymol and carvacrol is at least 40 %.
The variety prefers sunny locations with light, dry, well-drained soils. Under favorable conditions, it is capable of growing in one place for up to five years. It is used in pharmaceuticals, the food industry, and cosmetology.
