MARCELA
ActiveThymus vulgaris L. · Common thyme
FALTICEANU MARCELAAMBARUS SILVICABREZEANU CREOLABREZEANU PETRE MARIAN
10 August 2026
The variety was obtained through the hybridization of the Czech variety Krajový with the wild species Thymus marschallianus. The plants are sterile as their flowers lack stamens. The purpose of the variety is for use as a medicinal and aromatic plant.
A characteristic feature is the lemon aroma, caused by a citral content in the essential oil at a level of about 20%. Modern research notes variability in the chemical composition of the oil in different samples passing under this name, including the dominance of terpineol or geraniol.
