The variety is an evergreen shrub characterized by compact size — its height is about 1.5 meters, which is significantly less than the species plants that reach 3–6 meters. The plant has velvety dark green foliage.

The crop is thermophilic and does not tolerate frost conditions, therefore it is grown in regions with a favorable climate in hardiness zones 9 and above. It is used exclusively for ornamental purposes, including as a potted plant.
