The variety was obtained by individual and group selection from the original population of the Sukhum Botanical Garden. The period from germination to the use of greens as a seasoning is 59–62 days. Seeds and young leaves are suitable for use in meat, fish, and vegetable dishes, as well as in spice blends.

The yield of green mass is 3–4 kg/m², when grown in unheated winter greenhouses — 2.6–2.8 kg/m². The produce contains 22.8% dry matter, 3.3% sugars, and 307 mg% vitamin C.
