The variety belongs to winter forms of soft wheat. In agricultural and breeding studies, it is used as a reference genotype for mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with grain quality and resistance to pathogens.
The variety shows resistance to common bunt caused by the pathogens Tilletia tritici and Tilletia laevis. This genotype is also frequently studied in research focused on the resistance profile to Fusarium head blight.
