The Adamello variety was developed in Italy at the Research Institute for Cereal Crops. Morphologically, the variety is characterized by plant height comparable to modern varieties carrying the Rht-B1 dwarfing gene.
Durum wheat of this variety possesses good quality indicators and is traditionally used in the food industry for the production of pasta, bulgur, and couscous. The variety was actively used in breeding programs, becoming one of the parents of the well-known Ofanto variety.
