The Colosseo variety is a product of Italian breeding and is widely used as a reference sample when studying the technological quality of grain, protein composition, and response to various agro-climatic conditions.

The plant possesses resistance to leaf rust, which is due to the presence of the Lr14a gene. The main purpose of the variety is the production of high-quality flour and semolina for the manufacture of pasta.
