The breeding line D5171-1 underwent testing within the framework of cereal crop breeding programs. This number was used for comparative studies of genotypes and is not intended for general agricultural use.

The line is characterized by a mid-early maturity group and low lodging resistance due to weak straw strength. During the trials, resistance to leaf rust was noted, as well as moderate resistance to powdery mildew and moderate susceptibility to stripe rust and barley yellow dwarf virus.
