The variety Chirpanche (known as genotype 54) is a form of durum wheat. It was created during breeding work aimed at increasing productivity and improving the biochemical characteristics of the grain.
During field trials, the variety demonstrated an above-average yield. The grain contains about 15.0% protein and possesses a favorable combination of high-molecular-weight glutenin subunits, although the presence of the LMW-1 pattern somewhat affects gluten quality.
