The variety belongs to the parrot tulip class and is a sport of the variety Apeldoorn. The flower has strongly ruffled, fringed petals. The outer color is bright red with green flame-like streaks, the inner color is blood red with a black base and a lemon-yellow margin. The leaves have a characteristic darker green margin.

Plant height varies from 40 to 65 cm. The variety is late-flowering. Biological features include a tendency of the thin flower stalks to lodging. It is intended for use in landscape design and as a cut flower, suitable for cultivation in USDA climate zones 1–9.
