This material is part of the Hamburg collection, created during the breeding work of Professor Gustav Bredemann. The line was obtained by selecting the most productive individuals from wild populations of nettle and is maintained through vegetative propagation.

The primary intended use of the line is the industrial production of textile fiber. Research from that period demonstrated the ability of this material to accumulate up to 12% fiber in its stems, which exceeds the indicators of wild-growing nettle forms.

Wulfsdorf does not possess the standard varietal characteristics inherent to modern agricultural crops. At present, the material is significant primarily as an object of botanical research history and a base for the conservation of nettle genetic resources.
