The variety Rae kohalik is a traditional local form officially included in the register as a conservation variety. The crop is used primarily in forage production, often in mixtures with cereal crops, due to its high protein content.

The plant is characterized by sparse pubescence and an early start of flowering. The flowers have a lilac hue, and the pods are narrow and of medium length. The seeds are round, grayish-brown with orange cotyledons, and possess a characteristic variable ornamentation of the seed coat.

This variety possesses the genetic flexibility typical of local landraces and is widely used in organic farming, demonstrating adaptation to the conditions of Estonia.
