Variety description

The variety is a winter forage crop. The plant possesses a well-developed, deep taproot system. The stem is highly branched, well-leafed and pubescent, reaching a height of 120–160 cm.

The seeds are small, round-shaped, black or dark gray in color. The thousand kernel weight is approximately 25–45 g. The variety possesses high frost resistance; seedlings are capable of withstanding frosts down to –20°C.

The crop is used for the production of green forage, hay, haylage, silage and grass meal, and is also used as a green manure. The green mass and hay contain 15–20% protein in the dry matter. Traditionally, the variety is grown in mixtures with winter cereal crops.
