LN 33 is an interspecific hybrid of complex origin obtained as a result of crossing Couderc 1613 and Thompson Seedless. Its pedigree includes the species Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis solonis, and Vitis vinifera. The variety is not intended for harvest but is used as a grape indicator for diagnosing diseases, for example, corky bark disease.

As an indicator plant, LN 33 exhibits specific symptoms, such as bark cracking and internodal swelling, when infected with certain viruses. Due to its high sensitivity to viral infections, the variety is unsuitable for commercial cultivation.

Vitis rupestris (rock grape) is a wild grape species from North America. The plant is characterized by a shrubby form and adaptation to growth on sandy and rocky soils. The species possesses high resistance to phylloxera and is used in breeding to create rootstock forms.
