The plant is an epiphyte with a rosette of smooth leaves decorated with dark transverse stripes. During the flowering period, the total height reaches one meter, with a leaf length of up to 80 cm and a peduncle of up to 45 cm. The flat, sword-shaped inflorescence has a bright red color.
The species grows in South and Central America. As a potted crop, it is valued for its decorative foliage and the long-lasting brightness of the inflorescence. The plant is sensitive to direct sunlight, which causes burns, and requires moderate watering, as it is prone to base rot.
