Vriesea splendens is an epiphyte that forms a rosette of dark green leaves with red-brown stripes. The plant has an upright peduncle up to 60 cm in height with a bright, spike-like red inflorescence and yellow flowers.
The «White Line» variety or hybrid form is distinguished by the presence of cream or white stripes on the leaves. The height of such plants is usually 30–40 cm. The crop is used as an ornamental pot plant for interiors.
The plants are sensitive to low temperatures and excessive watering. Flowering usually occurs at the age of 3–5 years in the summer-autumn period. Product quality is determined by the decorativeness of the leaf rosette and the condition of the inflorescence.
