The plant forms a neat bush 50–60 cm tall with oval-heart-shaped or lanceolate dark green leaves, often covered with white streaks. The inflorescences, 5–5.5 cm in diameter and 5.5–6 cm in height, have a spadix of a delicate purple shade that darkens towards the base.

Flowering occurs from June to August. The variety is heat-loving and requires tuber lifting for the winter. It prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with moist, well-drained soil. All parts of the plant are poisonous; the sap can cause irritation to the skin and mucous membranes.
