The maize hybrid Anjou 245 was studied for drought tolerance in the period from 2001 to 2007. During tests with gradual soil drying, the plants demonstrated the ability to maintain relative tissue water content at the level of 84–89% for 3–12 days after the cessation of irrigation.

The physiological features of this hybrid include mechanisms of stomatal regulation of photosynthesis and transpiration, which allow for maintaining parameters comparable to plants not experiencing water stress.
