LH 109 is a professional breeding tool, not a variety intended for commercial cultivation. The line served as genetic material for the development of other commercial inbred maize lines.
When creating derivative lines based on LH 109, selection was conducted based on criteria of yield, stalk and root quality, disease resistance, tolerance to the European corn borer, as well as pollen shed and silking ability.
