The hybrid contains the MON810 genetic line, which provides the plant with resistance to the European corn borer. The protective effect is achieved through the expression of the Bt-toxin from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis, which is toxic to the specified pest.
This hybrid was used as a grain crop and also often served as a subject of scientific research in the field of biosafety, including the study of gene flow and comparative trials with isogenic lines, such as PR39F58.
