The hybrid Büffel, also known as DKC 5830, is a specialized variety for biogas production. It belongs to the late maturity group with an FAO maturity number of approximately 480–490.
Plants of this hybrid have a massive growth type and are distinguished by a high green mass yield with a high methane output. The recommended sowing density is 65–70 thousand plants per hectare in arid conditions and 80–85 thousand plants per hectare in humid regions.
The hybrid possesses good resistance to Fusarium, Helminthosporium, and stalk and ear diseases.
