The DH 105 line is a tool for in vitro breeding work, specifically for studying the transmission of the ability for androgenesis — plant regeneration from microspores. This line is not a commercial variety or hybrid for commodity cultivation.

Genetically, the line contains about 50% exotic Chinese germplasm. Scientific data on agronomic characteristics are limited to the evaluation of the ability of this line and its F1 hybrids to regenerate in tissue culture.
