The H 708 hybrid was bred in Bulgaria and was widely used in the 1990s in state variety trials as a control sample for comparison with new breeding achievements. Scientific studies of the hybrid were conducted by specialists of the Maize Research Institute in Kneja and the N. Poushkarov Institute of Soil Science, Agrotechnologies and Plant Protection.
The plant is relatively demanding in terms of moisture supply. According to productivity modeling, the hybrid's water stress sensitivity coefficient is 1.5. Scientific literature has also included studies on the genetic effects of the ear length trait and the influence of fertilizers on the grain quality of this hybrid.
