The line belongs to the yellow dent maize type. It was derived through the self-pollination of the LH198 x Ex2323 hybrid and is used in breeding practice as a tester to evaluate the combining ability of other lines.
The line selection process considered parameters such as yield, resistance to diseases and European corn borer, stem and root system quality, as well as effective pollination capacity and plant integrity at the end of the growing season.
