The line is used by breeders in programs for the production of hybrid seeds and can serve as a basis for creating transgenic versions of plants. In comparative trials, the line demonstrated higher yield and lower plant height compared to some other inbred lines.
The plant possesses resistance to gray leaf spot, northern corn leaf blight, Stewart's bacterial wilt, Fusarium ear rot, and common rust, however, in a number of studies it was classified as susceptible to Fusarium. It is characterized by the ability to maintain green leaf color until late stages of maturity.
