The line was created during a breeding process initiated in 2008 using the doubled haploid method with subsequent trait stabilization in generations D1, D2, and D3. It is breeding material, not a crop for commercial cultivation.
Morphologically, Ph42yr line plants differ from the Ph1md0 line in greater height, increased ear length, and specific tassel structure characteristics, including spikelet density and the number of lateral branches.
