The code SAKZIN015 is an inventory number for a breeding accession that belongs to the stabilized amphidiploid hybrid species Zinnia × marylandica. This species was obtained as a result of interspecific hybridization of Zinnia angustifolia and Zinnia violacea with subsequent application of colchicine.
Plants of the Zinnia × marylandica species are ornamental crops with a plant height of 35 to 55 cm, having a hemispherical or vase-shaped habit and a tendency to branch strongly from the base. The species is characterized by profuse and prolonged flowering, as well as pronounced resistance to a complex of fungal and bacterial diseases, including powdery mildew, Alternaria leaf spot, and leaf spots.
