The use of Petunia × hybrida in bedding designs requires a strict selection of cultivar groups based on their weather resistance and adherence to planting density standards.

Multiflora petunias, which possess high resistance to wind and rain, are most suitable for carpet bedding and mass plantings. Grandiflora groups are less appropriate for open areas due to the fragility of their flowers; therefore, it is recommended to use them in sheltered locations. To maintain distinct lines in borders and flower beds, it is preferable to choose F1 hybrids with a uniform habit.

Planting density in a flower bed depends on the petunia group: the optimal spacing is 15–20 cm for multiflora, 20–25 cm for grandiflora, and 25–30 cm for trailing (ampelous) varieties. Overcrowding leads to competition for light and a decline in ornamental value. Agronomic practices include soil mulching after planting, regular shoot pinching, and deadheading, as well as ensuring full sun exposure.
