The use of verbena in bedding plantings is based on the differentiation of cultivars by habit: from low-growing bush types for borders to tall-growing species for creating vertical accents.

When creating floral compositions, bush hybrid forms are spaced at intervals of 25–30 cm, while vegetative hybrids require a distance of 60–70 cm, and trailing forms about 35 cm. An important agrotechnical requirement is the presence of drainage, as the crop is sensitive to waterlogging, and high light levels in the area to prevent shoot stretching.

Verbena is characterized by high resistance to pruning, which allows for maintaining precise flower bed contours and stimulating repeat blooming. In complex compositions, trailing forms often require combination with other plants to mask bare stems, while a number of species are capable of maintaining ornamental value during brief frosts down to -3°C.
