Due to the crop's sensitivity to waterlogging, which triggers the development of root rots caused by Pythium, Phytophthora, and Fusarium, it is critical to ensure high-quality drainage and to alternate wetting and drying cycles of the substrate.

Unlike in open-field cultivation, container-grown Echinacea requires regular fertilization with complex fertilizers during the period of active growth. Special attention should be paid to protection against the root weevil, as root damage in a limited volume of substrate is fatal to the plant. When growing seedlings, the optimal temperature range is considered to be 10–13°C at night and 13–18°C during the day.
