Container culture of Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura lindheimeri has a deep taproot; therefore, containers with a depth of at least 30 cm must be used for cultivation. The plant does not tolerate transplanting well, so it is recommended to plant it directly into its permanent container. The soil mix should be light and well-drained, as the crop is extremely sensitive to excess moisture.

Under container conditions, Gaura requires watering once the top 5–8 cm of the substrate has dried out. Fertilization is carried out moderately with liquid complex fertilizers during the active growing season from July to August. To maintain blooming, faded inflorescences must be removed, and if there is a risk of temperatures dropping below –23 °С, the containers should be moved to a room with a temperature of approximately +4 °С.
