Double-flowering in China aster is a breeding trait manifested by the transformation of tubular disc florets into ray florets, which determines the ornamental value and seed productivity of a cultivar.

During the growing season, the stability of this trait depends on environmental conditions: unfavorable factors, such as water deficit or high temperatures, can lead to a decrease in double-flowering and partial exposure of the inflorescence center.
