Double-flowering in lilies is a change in flower structure where the perianth segments increase in number due to the transformation of stamens and pistils into petals.

Agrotechnical stresses, such as temperature fluctuations, nutrient deficiencies, or unfavorable soil conditions, can lead to the loss of the double-flowered trait, causing the flower to revert to a simple form.
