Cauliflower is one of the most moisture-demanding crops, reacting sharply to water deficit. Lack of moisture during the curd formation period leads to small, loose, yellowing, and prematurely bolted heads.

For normal crop development, it is necessary to maintain stable soil moisture throughout the entire growing season, with a total water requirement of 270 to 320 mm per season. The most critical period is the inflorescence formation phase, which begins at the 6–7 leaf stage, when moisture consumption reaches its peak.
Irrigation techniques should prevent sharp fluctuations in humidity, which negatively affect produce quality. When using overhead irrigation in hot weather, refreshing irrigation is preferred to reduce heat stress; however, at temperatures above +25°C, regular irrigation becomes an essential factor in preventing the degradation of marketable head properties.
