Diseases
x Heucherella H. R. Wehrh.
A fungal disease of x Heucherella caused by the pathogen Puccinia heucherae. The crop is characterized by high natural resistance to the pathogen compared to Heuchera species.
In the reference 4 varieties crop Foamy bells, where this is mentioned in the description.
The causal agent of rust on x Heucherella is the fungus Puccinia heucherae. Unlike many Heuchera cultivars, x Heucherella hybrids demonstrate marked resistance to this pathogen, often remaining healthy or showing only very mild infection even in the presence of high inoculum levels.
Symptoms of infection include the formation of orange-brown pustules on the underside of the leaf blades. On the upper leaf surface, brown spots, depressed areas, or chlorosis may appear. In rare cases of severe disease development, leaves become deformed, curled, and prematurely desiccated.
